Celebrate!

Today is our 37th wedding anniversary!

I celebrate God's goodness.

Alan and I are not just surviving, tolerating each other, but we are thriving, celebrating our differences.

We were very different when we covenanted before God and many witnesses, and we are still vastly different some 37 years later.

*Alan likes sand, sun and sea.

*I like pine trees, snowy peaks and mountain air.

*Alan is a spender and a man of few words.

*I'm a saver and a woman of strong opinions.

*Alan can put aside all tasks and bask in the art of relaxing.

*I have a hard time chillin' when the to-do task list is 'undone'.

I hope you get the idea, because I can go on for a long long time!

So, what's the secret?

Sure I can say communication. Or some people say compromise and acceptance.

But it's really a heart issue.

It's really about a simple choice of obedience.

What? Obedience?

Yes, obedience to the truth of the passage we had chosen for our wedding message: Philippians 2:1-8.

Here are verses 3-5:

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

And these verses don't just apply to our marriage relationship, but to all relationships.

Try it! See if God doesn't bring about a miracle much like the parting of the Red Sea or the fall of Jericho Wall.

I believe you will soon be celebrating God's goodness!
